The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project is exploring how horn requirements may apply to light rail trains that share a freight rail right-of-way. This is a “substitute” horn noise for the train whistles blowing…i.e. a “quiet zone” as developed by RCL, TriMet’s consultant on the issue.
You can judge for yourself how “quiet” it is.
